We are not splitting. Prince Indah sets the record straight on breakup rumours
Nairobi: Ohangla artiste Prince Indah has publicly celebrated his wife, Winnie Nyamigori, in a Mashujaa Day message that many fans see as a reply to weeks of speculation about their marriage.
The “Osiepe” singer marked the October 20 holiday with a post on Instagram, where he shared a photo of Winnie in a maroon velvet outfit with a red clutch. In the caption, he called her his “true Shujaa” and described her as the foundation of their family. He praised her strength, love, humility and wisdom, saying that what she has endured while holding their home together left him in no doubt about her place as his hero.
Rumours that preceded the post
In the days before the tribute, bloggers and social media users claimed the couple had separated. Some posts went as far as saying the marriage had quietly ended. Neither Prince Indah nor Winnie addressed the claims, and the singer’s message did not mention them either.
This is not the first time the couple has been the subject of such talk. Earlier this year, an April Fool’s Day prank and a short break from social media led some followers to suspect trouble. Those fears eased when the two later appeared together in gym photos.
Their relationship has drawn heavy public interest since their traditional wedding in April 2025, which was widely covered and discussed online.
Tribute to Raila Odinga
The musician also used the national holiday to honour the late former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga. He described him as a national hero and thanked him for his leadership, sacrifice and long struggle for the country.
Fans respond
The reaction online was largely warm. Many followers said the message touched them and treated it as a quiet but firm answer to the breakup claims. Commenters praised Winnie as the pillar of the family and applauded the singer for honouring her publicly. Others joked that he had set an impossibly high standard for husbands, much as they did after his earlier birthday tribute to her.
Entertainment pages quickly picked up the post, and several Kenyan news outlets framed it as the singer “breaking his silence”. Attention has since shifted from the rumours to the couple’s image as a close family.
